Construction Moves Indoors December 4, 2023December 3, 2023 by Paul Harvey We’ve had considerable progress on construction of the building. Construction activities are now focused on the interior finishes and installation of equipment. Now that the brick exterior is in place, the building really shines on a sunny day! Also note that outdoor lighting fixtures are installed. With the building exterior nearing completion, it’s time to concentrate on the interior. Drywall is in place and first paint work is under way. The drywall will provide a “canvas” for any future finishes. First engine in the building is the Benz. Compare this photo with the earlier restoration photos. Placed temporarily for now, it will soon be fastened to its foundation. The Benz engine will have a good home and will be well displayed in this corner of the building. It’s been a long journey. Parts of the Graz engine are being unpacked after their trip from Germany. This photo shows the engine’s nameplate on the cylinder. The base, crankshaft, and cylinder are staged in temporary storage and are being readied for installation in the new building. The piston and connecting rod are already secured in the cylinder. Last seen suspended from a forklift in Germany, the halves of the Graz flywheel await their turn to be reinstalled on the crankshaft.
